SHINE is a group run by MIT students that strives to instill confidence in female and nonbinary students through a combination of dance, creativity, and math mentorship.

Sign-up Information
  • Ages: 9 to 14.
  • Grades 4th grade through 8th grade.
  • We do not have strict eligibility for age or grade level, but we generally serve ages 9 to 14 in grades 4th to 8th.
  • Participants must identify as girls or non-binary.
  • SHINE is a group run by MIT students that strives to instill confidence in young girls and non-binary kids at an early age.
  • If a parent and child think this program would be a good fit, please fill out our application.
  • If you have any questions, send us an email or let us know on the application and we will do our best to answer in a timely manner.
  • Before the program starts we will reach out to contact you to confirm the program start date, drop off/pick up locations for the students, and to confirm that your child will be participating.
  • There is no deadline, but the program is usually full by mid-September.

    • We'll meet once per week from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
    • The start and end dates of the program are TBD.
    Additional information

    SHINE is a group run by MIT students that strives to instill confidence in young people at an early age by running a 9-week after school joint math and creativity program.

    We help girls and non-binary students learn and practice math skills in a supportive environment. Part of each session is also dedicated to a creative activity. Students can bring math homework from their classes to work on if they wish and receive help from the MIT student mentors.
