The Office of Student Services (OSS) is responsible for providing a variety of supports and services to students in Cambridge Public Schools (CPS). Our programs are dedicated to ensuring equitable access and success for students with disabilities and students who have advanced learning needs.
Cambridge Rindge & Latin School Community:Cambridge Rindge & Latin School (CRLS) is a comprehensive high school divided into four Learning Communities designed to promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students. Honors courses are offered in all core classes (English, History, Mathematics, and Science);
Advanced Placement (AP) courses are available to qualified students in grades 11 and 12.

TheOpportunity
The Technical Assistant will provide individualized support to meet the academic, behavioral, and personal care needs of a student receiving special education services. The individual in this role will work under the direction of the classroom teacher, special educators, and related service providers to ensure consistent implementation of the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the implementation of the student’s IEP, including academic instruction, behavioral support plans, and therapeutic strategies directed by service providers.
- Support the student with activities of daily living, including toileting routines, diapering, changing clothes, hygiene needs, and any feeding or mobility assistance required.
- Supervise and ensure the safety of the student during transitions, including movement to and from classes, recess, lunch, specials, transportation, and arrival and dismissal.
- Provide instructional support by reinforcing lessons, adapting materials as directed, and helping the student access the curriculum.
- Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined by the special education team.
- Maintain consistent communication with classroom teachers and service providers to support alignment and monitor progress.
- Support the student during non-instructional and unstructured times, promoting independence and engagement whenever appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all district policies and procedures related to special education and student safety.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
As the incoming Technical Assistant, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant and/or Health Aide experience,
- Candidate must be comfortable in assisting with toileting and hygiene related tasks. Candidate must be energetic and enthusiastic, as well as patient and understanding. Candidate must be flexible enough to work cooperatively with the school based team in addressing the physical, educational, and social-emotional needs of students.

- Demonstrated ability to problem solve
- Experience working with students in urban environments
- Must be energetic, enthusiastic, patient, and flexible
- Assist in addressing the physical, educational, and social-emotional needs of the students
- Willingness to be trained in de-escalation and safe physical restraint techniques
- Must have the physical ability to work on the floor and move around the room to support students and teachers in curriculum implementation, use of manipulatives, and other instructional methods and materials
