POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE
, Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), to join an interdisciplinary research team focused on the market analysis of solid carbon in the construction materials sector; will assess the market dynamics, material compatibility, and performance limits of solid carbon incorporation in concrete, asphalt, steel, and soil amendment; conduct a thorough review of commercialized and emerging carbon products, developing technical landscape reports, and creating a material-carbon compatibility matrix;
and evaluate market demand, using material flow analysis, scalability, and regional adoption constraints for solid carbon applications, providing critical inputs to experimental, economic, and policy analyses in this project. The position offers opportunities to collaborate with industry stakeholders and publish research findings.

Responsibilities- Assess market dynamics, material compatibility, and performance limits of solid carbon in concrete, asphalt, steel, and soil amendment.
- Review commercialized and emerging carbon products, develop technical landscape reports, and create a material-carbon compatibility matrix.
- Evaluate market demand using material flow analysis, scalability, and regional adoption constraints for solid carbon applications.
- Provide inputs to experimental, economic, and policy analyses within the project and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Engage with industry stakeholders and translate technical research into actionable insights; contribute to publications.
- REQUIRED
:
Ph.D. in Civil & Environmental Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Ecology, Chemical Engineering, or related field; expertise in construction materials science, industrial byproduct utilization, or technology adoption; strong quantitative skills; proven ability to synthesize technical and market data and perform material flow analysis; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to engage with industry stakeholders and translate research into actionable insights;
ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams. - PREFERRED
:
Experience with market modeling or construction industry standards; familiarity with carbon-based materials (biochar, graphite, carbon black); and prior publications in relevant areas.
This is a one-year position with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding.
