About Osmoses

Osmoses Inc. is a technology company revolutionizing the way industrial separations are performed today! Industrial separation processes account for 15% of the world’s energy consumption and are responsible for 16% of CO2 emissions because we rely on energy‑intensive technology. Changing this is one of the biggest opportunities to enable the energy transition. We bring together a diverse and dynamic group of scientists, engineers, business professionals, and operators to develop and commercialize cutting‑edge membrane technology that can reduce the impact of gas separations on the environment while increasing the economic incentive for our customers.

Our groundbreaking separation solutions have the power to disrupt multi‑billion dollar markets worldwide, reducing industrial energy consumption and accelerating the adoption of alternative energy sources with lower environmental impact. Together, we can create a future where cleaner and more sustainable industrial processes become the norm.

Position Overview

Osmoses Inc. is looking for a Senior Membrane Scientist with a strong background in polymer science, membrane fabrication, and gas transport characterizations. As a member of our Product team, you will develop breakthrough membranes from concept to commercial skidded product. The role will involve the design of polymer and membrane materials for gas separations as well as fabrication and testing of membranes.

The Senior Membrane Scientist will collaborate with the technology, engineering, and business teams to launch products from Osmoses.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Develop structure‑activity relationships of polymers for membrane gas separations to inform the Product team in their polymer design and synthesis.
  • Fabricate polymers synthesized by the Product team into thick films and asymmetric membranes for testing.
  • Evaluate the transport properties of membranes through single‑ and mixed‑gas permeation experiments.
  • Characterize membranes using analytical techniques such as TGA, DSC, and SEM.
  • Collaborate with the Product and Implementation team to develop the criteria to qualify polymer materials for membrane development and manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with the Product team to troubleshoot any issues in polymer and membrane development.
  • Provide regular updates internally on the status of polymer and membrane development, including estimated costs and projected timelines, through written communication and presentations.
What We’re Looking For
  • PhD in chemical engineering, materials science, membrane science, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years industrial experience working as a materials scientist, chemical engineer, or membrane scientist in addition to the above.
  • High‑level proficiency in membrane fabrication methods such as hollow fiber spinning and phase inversion.
  • Hands‑on experience with gas permeation systems, gas chromatography, SEM, DSC, and TGA.
  • Polymer synthesis capability is preferred but not required.
What We Can Offer You
  • Opportunity to contribute to addressing one of the biggest industrial decarbonization and energy efficiency challenges of this century.
  • Work in the heart of the most innovative square mile in the world and the most exciting hub for clean tech.
  • High leadership and growth potential joining our company at a critical stage with strong momentum backed by leading venture capital firms.
  • Access to competitive salary and equity packages.
