Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fluidic Scientist or Senior Fluidic Scientist at Tree Frog Therapeutics (TFT) to join the Innovation team. At TFT, the Innovation team explores new technological avenues to improve our preculture, encapsulation, and microtissue culture, and serves as a technological liaison with our local partners. This work is carried out in close collaboration with our European R&D team based at our headquarters in Bordeaux, France.
The Fluidic Scientist will report to the Head of Innovation and will support our efforts to develop new fluidic systems to integrate into our technology platform suite. With this role you will have the opportunity to gather input from a diverse range of users - including biology and process development scientists - located in your local lab, at our headquarters in France, and within our collaborators’ labs in the US.
Responsibilities will include:
- Designing and prototyping fluidic systems
- Conducting validation and characterization experiments
- Managing supply and maintaining lab space
- Staying informed on emerging technologies in the field of microfluidics and perfusion systems
- Creating and maintaining detailed technical documentation, including CAD drawings
- Effectively reporting and presenting experimental findings to a variety of audiences, including cross-functional teams and external partners
Required Skills
- Proficiency in CAD design and software
- Experience with microfluidic design, fabrication, and operation (3D microfluidic design is a plus)
- Proficiency in Fluid mechanics
- Experience with CFD and simulation software
- Experience with 3D printing is a plus
- Experience in a startup or early‑stage product development environment is a plus
- Experience with mammalian cell culture is a plus
- Self‑motivated, independent
- Detail‑oriented, critical thinking
- Ability to work in a larger research team and communicate effectively with other team members and groups
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to excel in cross‑functional, interdisciplinary environments
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Biophysics, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in high‑performing engineering organizations
