Draper Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated student interested in the design of GN&C algorithms and software for complex missile applications. The candidate will work in a team responsible for the analysis and development of models and simulation tools to evaluate Guidance, Navigation, and Control systems and subsystems. Specific activity will include simulation development, stability analyses, guidance and control law development, navigation accuracy assessments, robustness analyses, and support of GN&C software development and test.
This task will also require the development and maintenance of high‑fidelity, 6‑DOF dynamic simulation models of the missile. The candidate will implement non‑real‑time simulations and perform simulation‑based analyses to define GN&C system requirements and capabilities.
- Design, develop, and enhance engineering solutions for challenging problems.
- Implement, test, perform analysis, and provide documentation support.
- Generate and present test reports including plots, tables, evaluation criteria, and conclusions from data collected and analyzed throughout the test process.
- Complete assignments designed to develop a practical knowledge of processes, procedures, equipment, facilities, and systems as well as their interrelationships within engineering disciplines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Enrolled in an accredited full‑time undergraduate or graduate degree program.
- There is flexibility regarding hours and program duration based on applicant’s school schedule and availability.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent work ethic with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to adapt to ever‑changing environments, risks, and vulnerabilities.
- Strong computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Undergraduate student majoring in Engineering, Math, or Physics.
- Basic programming skills in Matlab, C, and C++.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools.
- Basic coursework in Calculus and Physics.
- Advanced engineering classes.
- Applicants selected for this position may be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

SalaryThe U.S. base salary range for this full‑time position is $15.00 – $225.00 per hour. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all U.S. locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that this compensation includes the base salary only and does not include bonuses or benefits.
