Join to apply for the Integrated Photonics Product Engineer role at Hyper Light
. Hyper Light is at the forefront of the commercialization of thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) integrated photonics—a material and process technology that enables high-performance, scalable optical components across AI and datacom infrastructure, hyperscale computing, quantum computing, sensing, and beyond. Founded in 2018 and backed by leading venture capital, we have built a team and a platform focused on real-world mass deployment of TFLN photonics technology.

At the core of our work is the TFLN Chiplet™ platform— a modular, integrated architecture designed for scalability, manufacturability, and seamless integration into complex systems. This rare combination of extraordinary performance and industrial readiness allows system developers across applications to deploy the technology quickly and ready. We partner with customers and suppliers from concept to mass production to ensure smooth and rapid deployment of TFLN photonic technology.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the end‑to‑end full‑cycle new product development on the TFLN platform, delivering packaged photonic TFLN modulators from concept through production
  • Define and develop product/design requirements and drive R&D to improve optical/RF/electro‑optical performance of the products
  • Work effectively with cross‑functional teams—design, fab, test—to evaluate design‑manufacturing tradeoffs and ensure manufacturability and scalability
  • Collaborate with vendors and contract manufacturers to evaluate advanced fiber components, high‑speed RF components, and advanced packaging services
  • Lead build, validation, and production test to ensure that products meet or exceed specifications for performance and reliability
  • Provide technical support and engage customers by understanding their technical needs
Requirements
  • Master’s or Ph.D.’s degree in a photonics‑related field such as Physics, Optics, or Engineering
  • Experience with integrated photonics and radio‑frequency design and testing
  • Experience with high‑speed electro‑optical modulators
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work under time constraints
  • Desire to deliver innovative products to market
  • Ability to solve problems in new or ambiguous scenarios
Benefits
  • Competitive market‑based compensation
  • Comprehensive health coverage, including medical, vision, and dental plans for individuals and families
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employee matching
  • Paid parental leave
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Commuter benefits and subsidies
  • Professional growth and mentorship opportunities
