Overview

Fiscal Officer Assistant We are seeking a highly organized Fiscal Officer Assistant to support the financial oversight of research and discretionary funds for 10–15 faculty and research staff. This full-time, hybrid role offers a competitive pay rate of $35 to $45 per hour and requires experience with financial systems, budgeting, and grants management. The successful candidate will work closely with principal investigators (PIs), department leadership, and central administration to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting across various funding sources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently develop internal research budgets for programs
  • Collaborate with PIs and senior staff on complex grant applications submitted via RAS
  • Approve purchases in line with grant guidelines; monitor spending, account end dates, and fund receipts
  • Track salary allocations; oversee payroll activity
  • Review and flag issues in monthly and quarterly DACCA reports; notify PIs and initiate corrections
  • Reconcile monthly financial statements; resolve discrepancies with VPF and related offices
Required Experience
  • 5+ years of financial administration experience, preferably in research or academic environments
  • Hands‑on experience with grant and sponsored fund management
  • Exposure to both pre‑award and post‑award processes
  • Demonstrated discretion in handling sensitive financial data
Nice‑to‑Have Experience
  • Experience with financial systems (SAPGui, SAPWeb, Concur, Cognos, COEUS)
  • Background in financial forecasting and reporting
  • Bachelor’s degree
Required Skills
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, financial modeling)
  • Proficiency with SAP or similar accounting platforms
  • Strong organization and multitasking capabilities
