Job description

Nanobiosym is an innovative nanotechnology company in Cambridge, MA that is developing point-of-care diagnostics to address a broad range of diseases. The role involves overseeing financial, administrative, accounting, bookkeeping, purchasing, vendor management, and operational tasks. The ideal candidate is hands-on, self-motivated, intelligent, emotionally aware, highly organized, analytical, and possesses strong business judgment and communication skills to interact effectively with internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, tax preparation, and financial planning, ensuring compliance with GAAP
  • Manage administrative tasks and ensure adherence to office policies and procedures
  • Supervise the finance department, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, invoicing, and credit/collections
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and support budgeting activities
  • Respond to inquiries from executive management and other departments regarding financial results and reporting
  • Develop and implement procedures to improve departmental workflow
  • Manage tax filings and coordinate audits
  • Handle vendor negotiations, purchasing, and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Support business growth through vendor and contractor relations, and contribute to sales and marketing efforts
  • Manage grant compliance, insurance, IP relationships, and other business needs
  • Assist in onboarding, training, and personnel issues
  • Handle other projects and duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in finance, accounting, operations, or office management
  • Bachelor's Degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Expertise in GAAP, SOX, audit, and tax preparation
  • Knowledge of employment laws and startup environment experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing demands
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA certification
  • Experience with Big Four accounting firms
