The role involves overseeing financial, administrative, accounting, bookkeeping, purchasing, vendor management, and operational tasks. The ideal candidate is hands-on, self-motivated, intelligent, emotionally aware, highly organized, analytical, and possesses strong business judgment and communication skills to interact effectively with internal teams and external partners.
Responsibilities- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, tax preparation, and financial planning, ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Manage administrative tasks and ensure adherence to office policies and procedures
- Supervise the finance department, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, invoicing, and credit/collections
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and support budgeting activities
- Respond to inquiries from executive management and other departments regarding financial results and reporting
- Develop and implement procedures to improve departmental workflow
- Manage tax filings and coordinate audits
- Handle vendor negotiations, purchasing, and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Support business growth through vendor and contractor relations, and contribute to sales and marketing efforts
- Manage grant compliance, insurance, IP relationships, and other business needs
- Assist in onboarding, training, and personnel issues
- Handle other projects and duties as assigned
- 10+ years of experience in finance, accounting, operations, or office management
- Bachelor's Degree required; advanced degree preferred
- Expertise in GAAP, SOX, audit, and tax preparation
- Knowledge of employment laws and startup environment experience preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing demands
- CPA certification
- Experience with Big Four accounting firms
