Group Lead, Global Scientific Communications, Immunology Job Description

Group Lead, Global Scientific Communications has ultimate accountability for delivering and executing scientific communication strategies in Immunology in close alignment with the global medical affairs Immunology strategy teams. This includes responsibility for scientific messaging contents and cadence across Immunology compounds and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop integrated scientific communications plans and supportive materials, publication strategy & plan, scientific slide decks, scientific communication platforms, training content, FAQs, symposia, congress materials, medical education materials, etc., all in close partnership with the relevant Immunology strategy units.
  • Ensure optimal use of internal and outsourced resources; the efficient and effective management of teams in alignment with relevant Global Medical Strategy Teams (MSTs).
  • Apply novel digital solutions such as virtual reality and interactive technology in immunology congress and scientific communication strategies.
  • Embed AI-enabled strategies and platforms where applicable in publications and scientific communication processes.
Key Accountabilities
  • Lead and develop scientific communications and publications in collaboration with medical information, training, evidence generation and other cross-functional partnerships across the medical affairs ecosystem in alignment with the medical strategy and to support a consistent omnichannel HCP experience.
  • Direct development and execution of integrated scientific communication plans applying AI when applicable through close collaboration with cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of medical communication and publication initiatives.
  • Lead and manage the Immunology scientific communications team, driving the development, review, and timely publication of high‑quality publications such as scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters, presentations, and digital enhancements.
  • Lead the Immunology scientific communications team in building AI and other technology capabilities.
  • Utilize AI and other digital platforms, such as social media, to implement strategies for Scientific Communications in support of the Medical Strategy.
  • Apply digital solutions and AI to enhance scientific exchange and engagement, and to optimize scientific communication workflows and processes.
  • Define best practices, identify high‑risk activities, and provide risk‑mitigation steps for communication‑related activities.
  • Maintain close working relationship with Global Medical Heads, Global Medical Directors, heads of Regional and other business unit Medical Affairs offices, LOCs and LOC medical directors, TDC, TPI, and TPC to ensure appropriate alignment of activities and efforts, including effective management of communications teams and appropriate contribution to the Global MSTs.
  • Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering their professional development and promoting a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in Scientific Communication and Publications best practices, including latest AI advancements and their integration into Scientific communication strategies.
Technical/Functional Expertise
  • Comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and medical affairs.
  • Global regulatory expertise with demonstrated strong ability for collaboration and team leadership; experience leading and working with cross‑cultural teams.
  • Therapeutic area expertise.
  • Knowledge of digital innovation in the scientific communication area.
