AIML Optimization Engineer
Join GSK as an AIML Optimization Engineer and help build cutting‑edge AI/ML platforms that accelerate medical research and drug discovery. The role is part of the Onyx Research Data Tech organization, a full‑stack shop focused on data engineering, infrastructure, and AI/ML solutions for GSK scientists.
About the Team- Build a next‑generation metadata‑driven data experience and AI/ML environment.
- Engineer scalable, unified data assets to unlock predictive insights in real‑time.
- Optimize compute and AIML platforms, improving performance and scaling for large‑scale batch processing and interactive notebook workloads.
- Serve as a lead engineer on the optimization team and collaborate with Dev Ops, cloud, and infrastructure specialists.
- Deliver scalable compute solutions that support the entire application lifecycle, with a focus on performance at scale.
- Partner with AIML and compute platform teams as well as scientific users to optimize and scale scientific workflows.
- Participate in agile sprint ceremonies and contribute technical expertise across related teams.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 1+ year of industry experience in software engineering for AIML and MLOps.
- Experience with one interpreted and one compiled language (e.g., Python, C/C++, Scala, Java) and associated tool chains for documentation, testing, and observability.
- Experience with application performance tuning in parallel and distributed computing, using MPI, OpenMP, or similar.
- Proficiency with modern software development tools (git/Git Hub, Dev Ops, monitoring).
- Cloud expertise (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Packer).
- Knowledge of AIML training optimization and distributed multi‑node training best practices.
- Understanding of ML model deployment strategies in multi‑GPU, multi‑node environments.
- Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and CNCF ecosystem tools.
- Experience with low‑level build tools (make, CMake) and compile‑time optimization.
- Demonstrated excellence in agile environments using Jira and Confluence.
Base salary ranges from $88,275 to $147,125 (depending on location) plus an annual bonus and potential equity participation. GSK offers health care, retirement plans, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
