Overview
The Senior Director, Supply Chain Digital Strategy will be a key business leader responsible for shaping and delivering the digital transformation vision for Alnylam's supply chain. This role will own the digital supply chain product vision and roadmap, ensuring that investments in data, systems, and processes deliver measurable business value across Clinical and Commercial Supply, Global Planning, and Logistics.
Anchored in supply chain but collaborating across Technical Operations & Quality (TOQ) - including CMC, Manufacturing, Quality, and Facilities - this leader will align digital priorities across functions, enable seamless data integration, and standardize core business processes. Acting as the business counterpart to IT, they will define enterprise process and data standards, prioritize initiatives, and drive adoption strategies that ensure technology solutions are scalable, connected, and future-ready.
This is a hybrid position based primarily at Alnylam's Cambridge, MA office. The individual in this role will be expected to work on-site at least two days per week. At this time, we are not considering remote candidates.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the business owner for supply chain digital products, ensuring a clear, cohesive product vision aligned with enterprise strategy.
- Develop and maintain a multi-year digital roadmap that balances innovation with operational readiness.
- Prioritize digital initiatives based on business value, feasibility, and strategic fit.
- Define and implement robust business-side data governance structures across supply chain domains.
- Establish clear data ownership and stewardship roles in partnership with IT, ensuring process accountability and alignment with enterprise governance standards.
- Ensure data integrity, harmonization, and lifecycle management across planning, inventory, distribution, and manufacturing master data.
- Partner with IT to drive seamless interoperability across core systems, including ERP, CTMS, MES, LIMS, and planning platforms.
- Ensure end-to-end integration between Clinical and Commercial Supply systems, enabling visibility and data flow across the product lifecycle.
- Support integration of Clinical Supply systems including IRT, CTMS, and clinical forecasting tools with enterprise systems to enable protocol demand visibility, country-specific supply planning, and inventory tracking.
- Develop and execute change management and adoption strategies to ensure new capabilities are fully utilized.
- Measure and communicate realized business value from digital investments.
- Lead the design of scalable digital engagement models with CMOs, suppliers, and 3PLs to enable visibility, traceability, and real-time data exchange.
- Define business process expectations and data standards for external integration platforms.
- Establish and govern enterprise supply chain KPIs and digital performance metrics.
- Enable self-service data access and operational dashboards for decision-making.
- Build foundational data/process infrastructure for AI, predictive analytics, and machine learning.
- Partner with analytics teams to pilot and scale advanced capabilities.
- Champion a culture of digital fluency and data-driven decision-making.
- Lead cross-functional training, engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 15+ years in supply chain, operations, or digital transformation in life sciences.
- Proven track record leading enterprise digital strategy and product vision execution.
- Deep expertise in systems integration, data governance, and business process architecture.
- Experience implementing major platforms across ERP, APS, MES, LIMS, WMS domains.
