The IT Inventory control specialist will be responsible for managing the procurement, deployment, and tracking of enterprise assets, and ensuring that appropriate controls and processes are in place and consistently adhered to, through all phases of the asset lifecycle. This role will partner closely with key HUIT stakeholders, including the HUIT Controller, Networking, Finance, IT Asset Management, and IT Service Management, to ensure process alignment.
PhysicalInventory Management
- Define and manage the receiving and deployment process of network inventory, ensuring alignment with ITAM best practices.
- Ensure inventory process compliance and reduce the risk of inventory loss.
- Facilitate the procurement, receiving, documenting, and tracking, of network inventory equipment, and ensure appropriate controls are in place and consistently adhered to.
- Ensure that Asset Management tools are appropriately updated and accurately reflect inventory status.
- Maintain backup documentation to support vendor payments.
- Facilitate processing and documentation of RMA requests for defective/incorrect deliveries and warranty work.
- Facilitate and execute periodic physical inventory audits and routine cycle counts.
- Manage all activities related to the warehousing of the network equipment.
- Facilitate process of end‑of‑life equipment, including updating asset status, asset swaps, data destruction, and pallet work.
- Manage inventory and asset lifecycle tracking, providing regular reports to key stakeholders’ business owners and finance.
- Track deployment‑related lease schedules from inception through completion.
- Analyze the existing policies, processes, procedures, and operational methods to consider improvements to new and existing systems.
- Consult with key stakeholders to assess and document ITAM business requirements.
- Develop workflows and processes to continuously improve efficiency of inventory managing practices.
- Participate in the building of HUIT’s network infrastructure inventory function in Service Now. Ensure that all network inventory management processes and procedures are well documented and aligned with ITAM program best practices.
- Assist with network infrastructure discovery for the ITAM program, including service mapping and configuration management work.
- Service as the primary point of content and resource manager for the network inventory management function, including participation in process governance and project meetings.
