Overview We are seeking a Lab Operations Associate to support Sample Management activities involving the receipt, storage, tracking, inventory, and shipment of clinical and nonclinical samples.
This individual will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure samples are accurately processed, documented, stored, and transferred within required timelines. The role includes maintaining sample inventory within a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and coordinating domestic and international shipments.
Key Responsibilities- Support end-to-end tracking and logistics for clinical and nonclinical samples.
- Perform sample management and archive activities including labeling, receipt, transfer, tracking, inventory, storage, shipping, and disposal.
- Process and maintain sample information within LIMS.
- Reconcile samples and shipments, identify discrepancies, and coordinate resolution of inventory or documentation issues.
- Investigate and correct sample or inventory discrepancies within LIMS.
- Collaborate with laboratory and operations teams to ensure samples are available for transfer and analysis.
- Maintain accurate inventory of clinical and nonclinical samples, test materials, and reference materials.
- Maintain SOPs, working procedures, and forms related to sample receipt, storage, and disposition.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory consumables used by the Sample Management team.
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments to external research partners.
- Prepare required shipping documentation, including customs information, tariff requests, and declared values.
- Coordinate with shipping vendors to maintain required temperatures and ensure safe delivery.
- Track and monitor shipments from sample collection through receipt.
- Complete assignments accurately and within established timelines while maintaining detailed documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline required.
- 3–5 years of relevant industry experience.
- 3+ years of laboratory experience preferred.
- Experience with LIMS applications and/or implementation preferred.
- Experience with sample management, laboratory inventory, sample logistics, or similar laboratory operations strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word;
Smartsheet experience helpful. - Ability to follow written and verbal procedures accurately.
- Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. and remain on your feet for extended periods.
