Visiting Scholar or Fellow (Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies)
The Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies’ Visiting Scholar Program offers comprehensive research, training and professional development opportunities for junior and senior scholars whose research relates to Russia and/or Eurasia. Visiting Scholars and Fellows pursue their research with support from an interdisciplinary community of experts and with access to world‑class resources. The program provides scholars with experiences and connections that endure well beyond the fellowship year.
Both junior and senior scholars are encouraged to apply. Citizens of all countries are eligible. Research proposals on topics related to the following regions are welcome: the Baltics, Eastern Europe, Southeast Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Russia.
- This position is unpaid. Applicants are required to secure external funding independently, which can include funding through home institutions or external grant sources.
- This position is not eligible for Harvard employee benefits.
- Citizens of all countries may apply.
- All Visiting Scholars and Fellows receive borrowing privileges at Harvard libraries, and, in some cases, receive shared office space at the Davis Center.
This position is for junior or senior scholars who are pursuing research related to Russia and/or Eurasia. Citizens of all countries may apply.
Qualifications by Role- Fellow: Must have external funding or the ability to self‑fund. Not for individuals who hold a completed Ph.D.
- Visiting Scholar: Must have external funding or the ability to self‑fund. Ordinarily for tenure‑track faculty or other individuals who are at a senior level in their career.
- Postdoctoral Fellow: Must have outside funding meeting Harvard’s minimum of $56,484, or the appropriate NIH step for their experience level. Must have a Ph.D.
Visit durations are:
- Fall term (September 1–December 30)
- Spring term (January 1–May 31)
- Both fall and spring term
