At Bristol Myers Squibb, our employees often ask, “Who are you working for?”—a question that fuels collaboration, accountability, and urgency in our work. Our purpose-driven culture inspires us to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines to prevail over serious diseases. We offer uniquely interesting and meaningful work, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment that values inclusion, wellbeing, flexibility, and comprehensive benefits.
This is work that transforms the lives of patients, and the careers of those who do it. The Cell Therapy Thematic Research Center is one of BMS’s differentiated research platforms delivering innovative therapies to patients. Our mission is to drive leadership in the use of cellular therapies to harness the power of the immune system in treating hematologic malignancies, solid cancers, and autoimmune disease.
More specifically, our discovery and translational scientists are focused on developing next-generation, engineered cell-based therapies. The team is committed to discovering and developing transformative therapies that harness the power of the immune system to improve patient outcomes.
We are seeking a highly motivated and scientifically curious Senior Scientist, Non-Viral Delivery Attribute Sciences to help shape a growing Attribute Sciences capability and establish the mechanistic understanding that will drive next-generation targeted LNP development. This role brings together cell biology, delivery science, and advanced characterization to define the product attributes and biological mechanisms that govern targeted LNP performance. You will integrate scientific datasets, expand advanced characterization capabilities through emerging technologies, and partner across Research and CMC to translate mechanistic insights into product development and program decisions.
The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in cell biology and functional assay development, scientific curiosity across disciplines, and a passion for turning mechanistic understanding into innovative targeted therapeutics.
- Contribute to the development of the Attribute Sciences function by advancing scientific frameworks and characterization capabilities that underpin non-viral delivery product and platform development.
- Develop biologically relevant cellular characterization strategies, including primary and patient-derived cell systems, to understand how product attributes and biological context influence functional performance.
- Lead attribute characterization supporting formulation and process changes, comparability assessments, and technical investigations, partnering with Analytical Development, Process Sciences, and Product Development to understand impacts on product quality and functional performance.
- Develop and implement high-throughput and automated characterization approaches to improve experimental throughput, reproducibility, and scalability.
- In close partnership with Analytical Development, identify and expand internal and external characterization capabilities for targeted LNP drug products, including emerging technologies and methodologies.
- Collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary Research and CMC functions and represent Attribute Sciences on program and CMC teams, providing scientific expertise to inform product development and program decisions.
- Effectively communicate scientific findings and actionable recommendations to multidisciplinary teams and leadership to influence delivery strategy and program decisions.
- Provide scientific mentorship to junior scientists, and contribute to the development of new experimental approaches and technologies.
