The Leinweber Institute for Theoretical Physics (LITP) at Harvard University welcomes applications for a Leinweber Physics Postdoctoral Fellow position to begin in the fall of 2027. Leinweber Physics Postdoctoral Fellows will have the opportunity to pursue their research interests and to collaborate across multiple research groups y will also have opportunities to attend events and to collaborate across the broader Leinweber Network for Theoretical Physics, which currently spans nine institutions.
The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of annual renewal for a second and third year, contingent upon satisfactory performance, continued funding, research needs, and required approvals.
The Leinweber Institute for Theoretical Physics at Harvard pursues curiosity-driven research on fundamental aspects of theoretical physics. The professors affiliated with the LITP at Harvard are Cora Dvorkin, Daniel Jafferis, Sonia Paban, Lisa Randall, Matthew Reece, Subir Sachdev, Matthew Schwartz, Andrew Strominger, Cumrun Vafa, Ashvin Vishwanath, and Xi Yin. The research questions that concern us include the laws of particle physics and cosmology at all distance and time scales and the interplay between them;
the structure of quantum field theories and quantum gravity theories, in particular string theory; theoretical concepts like symmetry, holography, and duality that cut across particle physics, gravitational physics, and condensed matter physics; and theoretical studies that propose or analyze novel experiments or observations shedding light on fundamental laws of nature.
Three letters of recommendation must also be received by November 30, 2026.
Final date to receive applications:
November 30, 2026.
