Sr. Director, Process Chemistry - San Diego, CA or Cambridge, MA

Recludix Pharma is a venture capital-funded biotechnology company located in San Diego, California and Cambridge, Massachusetts. We are engaged in small molecule drug discovery for the treatment of targeted patient populations in autoimmune disease and oncology. Recludix Pharma is looking for experienced candidates who desire to work in a dynamic early‑stage startup environment as a member of our San Diego/Cambridge team.

We are seeking a visionary and hands‑on Senior Director, Process Chemistry to lead our process chemistry function. This role is critical to our mission, overseeing the development, optimization, and scale‑up of synthetic routes for small molecule drug candidates. You will shape strategy, build infrastructure, and drive execution from preclinical through commercial readiness.

This is a hands‑on role ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, build‑as‑you‑go environment. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in early‑phase clinical development of small molecules and is energized by working alongside experienced scientific leadership to bring innovative therapies to patients.

• Lead process chemistry strategy across all programs, from early development to commercial scale
• Design and optimize scalable, cost‑effective, and robust synthetic routes to meet program objectives within budget and timeline targets
• Manage external CROs/CMOs for process development, tech transfer, and GMP manufacturing
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Medicinal Chemistry, Analytical, Formulation, and Regulatory teams
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and contribute to CMC documentation
• Build and mentor a high‑performing internal team as the company grows
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and implement best practices in green chemistry and sustainability

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or related field with 8+ years of industry experience, biotech experience preferred
• Proven track record in process development and scale‑up of small molecule APIs
• Experience managing CDMOs and leading tech transfers
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (ICH, FDA, EMA)
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, resourceful environment

Salary range: $245,000 – $265,000
