The Building Maintenance Specialist supports JLL's commitment to exceptional client service by maintaining facility operations with specialized expertise in carpentry, drywall repair, and furnishing installation/maintenance. This role ensures facilities remain functional, aesthetically pleasing, and aligned with JLL's high standards of quality and safety. It also includes general maintenance of office and lab environments, working daily with the Operations and Maintenance teams to provide excellent customer service to our client.
Day‑to‑DayResponsibilities
- Execute skilled carpentry work including framing, finish carpentry, cabinet installation, and woodworking repairs to maintain building integrity.
- Perform drywall installation, patching, finishing, and texturing to uphold facility appearance standards.
- Install, repair, relocate, and maintain office furnishings and fixtures according to client specifications.
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks and respond to work orders in accordance with service level agreements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve general maintenance issues across multiple building systems.
- Qualify for door repair experience (Automatic Operators, Hand Wave Sensors) as a plus.
- Maintain accurate documentation of completed work and material usage.
- Adhere to JLL safety protocols and procedures at all times.
- Participate in rotating on‑call schedule and respond to after‑hours emergencies.
- Support sustainability initiatives through proper waste disposal and efficient resource utilization.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3+ years of related working experience.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong working knowledge of computer systems and software such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for a prolonged period of time.
- Trade school certification or vocational training in carpentry, construction, or a related field.
- Experience with automatic door systems, hand wave sensors, and electronic access controls.
- Knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Experience working in laboratory or office environments with specialized requirements.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- OSHA safety certification or willingness to obtain.
- Experience with furniture assembly and office space reconfiguration.
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices and LEED principles.
Monday through Friday, 3 pm – 11 pm with overtime and on‑call responsibilities.
Salary and CompensationHourly: $33.65 – $43.27, depending on experience. Annual estimate: $70,000 – $90,000 USD.
LocationOn‑site – Cambridge, MA.
