Founding Member of Technical Staff

We're assisting a non-profit startup in the scientific research space with their search for a founding member of technical staff. Their mission is to revolutionize the way scientists interact with genomic information by using AI models and tools to help interpret genomes. The role will work onsite in the Cambridge office 3-4 days per week and remotely 1-2 days per week.

• Architect and build the backend for the genomic intelligence platform.

• Own the entire development lifecycle and make key decisions on tech stack and infrastructure.

• Collaborate directly with frontend engineers, machine learning scientists and computational biologists.

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record of building and scaling backend systems from scratch (0-to-1 experience).

• Deep expertise in building robust, scalable backend services.

• Experience designing scalable architectures and databases (e.g., Postgre
  
  SQL, vector databases).

• Experience with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP) and modern infrastructure.

• A product-minded approach to building in an early‑stage environment.

• Science background (even from undergrad).
