As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will develop software to support Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) research and development programs. You will be involved in every phase of the engineering lifecycle—from concept to deployment—working with firmware, operating‑system–level Linux, and containerized cloud services. Your work will focus on the intersection of user experience, software reliability, and hardware performance, ensuring that autonomous systems achieve mission goals while exceeding customer expectations.
Responsibilities- Develop firmware and software for embedded components that support small UAS and UAVs.
- Design, implement, validate, and sustain Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) software for autonomous vehicles.
- Design and support automated Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) testing architecture to exercise all system components.
- Assist with flight testing, including system checkout, ground station support, log retrieval and analysis, and debugging.
- BS or MS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience developing embedded software, preferably for UAS.
- Strong proficiency in C++, Python, and/or Rust.
- Knowledge of Embedded Linux operating systems.
- Experience with CMake, Docker, and/or Git Lab.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with Pixhawk and PX4 flight‑control stacks.
- Understanding of various data communication protocols is a plus.
- Willingness to travel for field tests up to 10% of the year.
- U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
Salary range: $90,000 – $210,000 USD. Total compensation may include bonus, stock options, 401(k) match, paid time off, and health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
