Overview

Project Engineer role at Cooper Machinery Services. This role focuses on performing initial inspection and measurements for refurbishment, repair, and repurposing projects, developing work scopes and procedures, and delivering engineering outputs to support projects.

Responsibilities
  • Perform initial inspection and measurements for refurbishment, repair, and repurposing projects.
  • Develop work scopes and procedures for the above listed project types.
  • Develop model simulations, component designs, assembly prints, and bill of materials for the above listed project types.
  • Facilitate document retention for engineering measurements and reports. Engineers will produce high-level engineering reports when necessary.
  • Assist in project management type tasks for the above listed project types.
  • Provide technical support for aftermarket products to customers and Cooper colleagues.
  • Perform all engineering measurements for cylinder and component replacements, re-designs, and reverse engineering. This information is organized and communicated to the Engineering Design team. Measurements of this type are performed in-house or in-field.
  • Travel on-site for measurement trips, installation support, troubleshooting, or overall engineering representation for Cooper-led projects.
  • Assist with technical questions from the shop floor and provide engineering presence on the shop floor due to the proximity of the engineering bay to the shop bay.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience:

    A bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a graduate of a technical school with extensive hands-on experience and in-depth technical aptitude.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    Strong expertise in cylinder and component replacements, including mechanical, electrical, and control systems; familiarity with engines and their performance characteristics; experience tuning and calibrating engines for optimal performance.
  • Troubleshooting Skills:
    Ability to diagnose and resolve issues related to internal combustion engines and reciprocating compressors; proficient with diagnostic tools, software, and equipment; analytical mindset to identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Knowledge of oilfield, production facilities, and compression operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships with customers.
  • Reciprocating equipment experience in engines and/or compressors.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Commitment to safety and customer service; ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and maintain a strong work ethic.
  • Sense of urgency, ownership, and team-first attitude.
