Overview
Ascent Resources is seeking an experienced Measurement Technician II. This position is located in Cambridge, Ohio and will report to the Measurement Supervisor.
This position is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of electronic measurement devices in Ascent’s oil and gas production operations. Also included is the responsibility for the maintenance of the mechanical equipment (meters) that create the conditions for the measurement to occur.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled, periodic testing and calibration of electronic gas measurement devices, pull gas samples, and maintain the associated meter/meter tube
- Investigate meter failures and performance issues, diagnose the problem and then repair/restore service and accuracy. Such investigations may often include collaboration with other Ascent personnel, i.e. Lease Operators, Foremen, I&E Technicians, etc.
- Maintain electronic records of all meter tests and transmit them on a timely basis into Ascent’s measurement system
- Ensure that all of the meter testing devices are tested against a known standard each month to maintain the integrity of the meter testing process
- Commission new meter installations prior to being put into operation
- With experience and knowledge be able to identify and resolve common and uncommon field measurement electronic and communication problems
- Route volume variance review and reconciliation support
- Other duties assigned as needed
Minimum Requirements:
- Knowledge of and comfortable with basic mathematics
- Ability to work independently and also with others
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and able to use common modern electronics/communication devices
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Direct experience with gas measurement and the maintenance of gas meters
- Direct experience with liquid measurement and the maintenance of liquid meters
- Mechanical understanding of oil & gas production equipment and processes
- Can recognize common safety issues that may arise on a well pad and demonstrate proper responses
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma
- Three years of measurement experience
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred:
- Two-year college degree or technical/career school completion
- Ability to work outdoors all day in all kinds of weather
- Able to lift 40 pounds
- Able to walk on uneven ground and stand for extended periods (as needed when testing meters)
- Drive to remote locations within the operating area
