Job Description

Summary

Competently interpret patients' history and baseline function, perform assessments, establish and carry out plans of care, including treatment, reassessment, patient/family instruction, discharge planning, documentation, and communication with medical staff. Acts as a clinical instructor and participates in department functions to help patients achieve maximum functional outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Direct Patient Care (90-100%)
    • Evaluate and treat patients based on provider referrals, develop and implement plans of care, perform instrumental exams and hearing screens, and maintain productivity expectations.
    • Assist in discharge planning, instruct patients and families, and communicate with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Indirect Patient Care (1-10%)
    • Supervise staff, participate in quality improvement, and assume delegated duties in management's absence.
  • Education and Mentoring
    • Orient new staff, serve as a clinical instructor, advocate for the discipline, and represent the department in meetings.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Master's Degree in Speech Pathology, Ohio licensure, and specialized knowledge in cognition, aphasia, dysphagia, and swallowing assessments.

    Additional Requirements
    • Basic computer skills
    • Home Care department: valid driver’s license, acceptable Motor Vehicle Report, proof of insurance
    Work Details

    Day shift, as needed, in the Outpatient Rehab department.
