PositionSummary
The Base Plant Operator Technician Level 2/3 will be responsible for chemical process operations. The operator technician demonstrates leadership skills, taking on additional responsibilities within the team to achieve factory business objectives of safety, quality, productivity, customer service, cost, and environmental protection. The role includes daily Base Plant operation, laboratory testing, utilities, quality procedures, safety compliance, equipment maintenance procedures, data collection, housekeeping responsibilities, meeting facilitation, problem solving, and continuous improvement as part of a work team.
Required training: hazmat physical and respirator fit test; hazmat, PSM, confined space, boiler, and DOT training.
Core Responsibilities- Operate, clean, lubricate, inspect, troubleshoot, and change over chemical process equipment; use computer operating systems for process control, adjustment, data trending, and troubleshooting.
- Apply knowledge of chemical properties and mechanical principles to manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Maintain equipment and laboratory testing; review operating information with team members and identify improvement opportunities based on trends and data; support area leaders in action plans.
- Assist maintenance, engineering, contractors, and teammates in troubleshooting and minor repairs; participate in continuous learning opportunities.
- Confirm raw material availability for current and upcoming production runs and coordinate with planning and logistics teams.
- Adhere to Colgate Quality, GMP and Micro standards and guidelines.
- Follow EHS requirements, wear PPE, support accident investigations and proactive actions.
- Complete training in the site’s PSM program and evacuation procedures; operate PSM-covered processes per site policy.
- Operate forklift and handle loading/unloading of materials from tank trucks.
- Support visual workplace programs and housekeeping activities; lead monthly housekeeping assessments.
- Demonstrate personal leadership and Colgate‑Palmolive Managing with Respect values.
- 12‑hour position on a 4‑on/4‑off rotating AM/PM shift
- 12‑hour position on a 4‑on/4‑off straight AM shift
High School Degree or Equivalent required. Vocational school or technical institute preferred.
Physical Requirements- Must be able to work any shift, weekends, and mandatory overtime as needed.
- Must be able to stand for 8‑12 hours per shift.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and reach for extended periods during shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and handle boxes, totes, and bags weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to wear all required PPE.
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders and stairs.
Salary range: $ — USD. Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit‑sharing, and long‑term incentives for executive‑level roles.
