Semi-Senior Accountant Cambridge £30,000 - £40,000

An established and growing accountancy practice is seeking a Semi-Senior Accountant to join their team. Working closely with a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses and individual clients, the successful candidate will be involved in the preparation of accounts, tax compliance work and client support activities. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious practice professional who is progressing through their studies and is looking to broaden their technical exposure while developing their client-facing responsibilities within a supportive environment.

Role Responsibilities

• Preparation of statutory accounts for a range of limited companies businesses.
• Preparation of corporation tax returns and personal tax returns.
• Completion and review of VAT returns.
• Supporting clients with bookkeeping and accounting software queries.
• Liaising directly with clients regarding financial information and compliance requirements.
• Assisting with management accounts and ad hoc reporting assignments.
• Supporting senior team members on more complex assignments.
• Working with a range of industries, including construction-related clients where applicable.
• Assisting with compliance matters relating to CIS where relevant.

Personal Requirements

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
• AAT qualified or ACA/ACCA part-qualified.
• Experience preparing accounts and tax returns.
• Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients.
• Good working knowledge of cloud accounting software such as Xero and Dext.
• Organised approach with strong attention to detail.
• Keen to continue professional development and progress towards qualification.
• Any exposure to Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) work would be advantageous.
