Brook Street is currently recruiting for a Temporary Business Support Officer on behalf of our public sector client. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator who thrives in a busy office environment and is committed to delivering high-quality business support and customer service.
The RoleAs a Business Support Officer, you will provide comprehensive administrative support to the service, ensuring the efficient delivery of day-to-day operations. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, supporting colleagues and customers, and managing a varied workload in a fast-paced, reactive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional administrative and business support across the service.
- Deliver excellent customer service, responding to enquiries from internal and external customers in a professional and timely manner.
- Produce reports, correspondence, presentations and other documentation to a high standard.
- Accurately input, maintain and retrieve information using internal systems and databases.
- Maintain financial, administrative and operational records with a high degree of accuracy.
- Use Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, to support daily business activities.
- Organise and prioritise your workload to meet deadlines and service requirements.
- Work collaboratively within a team while using your own initiative to resolve issues.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with organisational policies, procedures and confidentiality requirements.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate:
- A good standard of general education, including GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at Grade C/Level 4 or above.
- Knowledge and understanding of excellent customer care principles.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including Word and Excel.
- Experience of office administration and business support procedures, including financial, administrative, personnel or operational processes.
- Excellent keyboard and IT skills, with experience producing reports, correspondence, presentations and maintaining electronic records.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide advice, guidance and information to a range of customers and colleagues.
- The ability to maintain accurate records using business support, finance or management systems.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workloads effectively.
- The ability to remain calm and professional when working under pressure.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
The successful candidate will have experience of:
- Providing high-quality customer service.
- Working in a fast-paced, reactive office environment.
- Managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Supporting a busy team with a wide range of administrative duties.
- Using IT systems to accurately process and maintain information.
- Experience of using Tascomi or Alloy systems would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.
- Previous experience within a local authority or public sector environment is desirable but not essential.
You will be an organised, adaptable and motivated individual with excellent attention to detail and strong administrative skills. You will enjoy working in a busy team, be confident using a range of IT systems, and be committed to delivering an efficient and professional business support service.
