WhyThis Role Matters
This is an exciting opportunity to build your career in project management while supporting the delivery of construction and master planning projects across the IWM estate. Working client-side, you ll gain hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle, from early planning and stakeholder engagement through to procurement, contract administration and project completion.
Your work will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and with strong governance. By maintaining clear records, coordinating stakeholders and supporting effective decision-making, you ll play an important role in helping IWM protect and develop its nationally significant estate.
What You'll Be Doing- Support the delivery of construction and master planning projects from initial briefing through to completion.
- Maintain project documentation, including action logs, risk registers, decision logs and programme information.
- Organise meetings, prepare agendas, record minutes and track actions to ensure progress is maintained.
- Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, consultants, design teams and contractors.
- Support contract administration activities, including maintaining records and tracking project changes under supervision.
- Coordinate information from project teams and help ensure effective document control and information management.
- Prepare reports, presentations and briefing materials for project meetings and governance forums.
- Assist with procurement activities, including tender documentation, evaluation support and recommendation summaries.
- Work towards achieving the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ), with opportunities for further professional development.
We d love to hear from you if you have:
- A relevant degree-level qualification, vocational qualification or equivalent experience.
- A genuine interest in construction project management and client-side project delivery.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and project information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High levels of attention to detail and confidence working with project documentation and data.
- Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to take ownership of tasks while learning from others.
- An understanding of construction regulations and compliance requirements, including CDM regulations.
- An interest in developing a professional project management career and working towards recognised qualifications.
You ll work closely with the Project Manager, internal colleagues across IWM, external consultants, contractors and specialist project teams. The role offers exposure to a wide range of stakeholders and project disciplines, providing an excellent foundation for a career in construction and project management. Based primarily at IWM Duxford, you ll regularly attend site visits, project meetings and collaborative workshops to support project delivery and development.

- Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation and project teams.
- Confidently manage project records, including actions, risks, decisions and programme information.
- Coordinate project meetings and communications effectively, ensuring actions are tracked through to completion.
- Contribute to procurement and contract administration activities with increasing independence.
- Support the successful delivery of project milestones across construction and master planning programmes.
- Achieve meaningful progress towards the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification and demonstrate growing project management capability.
