Senior Site Manager

Central Cambridge | £9m Conversion Project

We are working with a growing developer who are looking for an experienced Senior Site Manager to take ownership of a £9m conversion project in the heart of Cambridge.

This is not a straightforward build. The project is particularly tight and technically challenging, with a significant focus on demolition, piling, basement construction, steel frame, façade and brickwork.

The development will transform an existing building into a combination of restaurant, pub and office space, creating a complex project in a highly constrained city-centre environment.

Reporting directly to the Construction Director, you will be the developer's lead presence on site and will have genuine ownership of the project's day-to-day delivery.

This is a hands‑on position suited to an experienced Senior Site Manager who is comfortable taking responsibility and making things happen.

You will be responsible for:

• Taking full ownership of the day-to-day running of the project
• Managing and coordinating subcontractors and trades
• Driving the programme and keeping the project on track
• Overseeing complex works including demolition, piling, basement, steel frame, façade and brickwork
• Managing site logistics within a very constrained central Cambridge location
• Maintaining strict control over quality and workmanship
• Ensuring the project is delivered safely and in accordance with all relevant requirements
• Identifying issues early and finding practical solutions
• Working closely with the Construction Director and wider professional team
• Coordinating consultants, subcontractors and other project stakeholders
• Providing clear updates on progress, programme and key project issues

We're looking for someone who has experience when it comes to complex construction projects.

You’ll ideally have:

• Strong experience as a Senior Site Manager or experienced Site Manager
• A proven track record delivering complex construction or refurbishment projects
• Experience across demolition, piling, basement construction, steel frame, façade and brickwork
• Experience working on constrained or logistically challenging sites
• Strong programme and subcontractor management skills
• Excellent organisational and problem‑solving abilities
• The confidence to operate independently and take ownership
• High standards when it comes to quality, safety and delivery
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with senior management
