Are you an experienced and motivated Landscape Architect looking for your next career move within a highly reputable firm? If so, we have a fantastic new opportunity to join our busy Master Planning, Landscape, and Assessment team in Cambridge!
The Master planning, Landscape and Assessment (MLA) Team at Bidwells is an integral part of our award-winning Planning department. This team are involved in a range of work and schemes across cities, towns, villages and rural areas, assessing natural systems, built form, and landscape character to shape design strategies that feel authentic and build strong planning narratives, ensuring schemes are both imaginative and deliverable.
Whether shaping new communities or enhancing existing places, we focus on long-term value and lasting impact to create places that people actually use.
Working closely alongside the Head of Master planning and Landscape Architecture, the Senior Landscape Architect will provide professional advice, prepare strategies, deliver projects and act in the best interests of clients with regards to all landscape/ urban design and planning matters. The work is varied and no day will be the same.
What you’ll be doing- Undertake assessments to establish site constraints and assess development potential including detailed inspections, planning histories, and policy analyses.
- Prepare Design and Access Statements, Landscape or Green Infrastructure Strategies, Development Briefs or Design Codes.
- Prepare the delivery of technical landscape architectural schemes, including coordination with contractors and other technical consultants.
- Prepare, monitor, and promote masterplans and landscape strategy input of planning applications in accordance with agreed client instructions.
- Provide professional advice and support to Planning Consultants.
- Undertake Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA) and Landscape and Visual Appraisals (LVA) as required.
- Manage and anticipate clients’ needs, ensuring targets, deadlines and service levels are achieved.
- Maintain existing client relationships.
- Identify new business opportunities. Attend networking events.
- Ideally a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) or currently on the pathway to Chartership.
- Professional experience in Landscape Practice or in a relevant area
- Some previous experience in the preparation of Master Plans, Photomontages, 3D Visualisations and working drawing packages, ideally for RIBA work stages 1-7.
- Good at building and maintaining client relationships.
- Having an awareness and understanding of issues affecting the economy and the implications on MLA / planning consultancies would be useful.
- IT proficient, particularly with Adobe Suite, Auto Desk, Sketch Up and MS Office.
- Report writing skills and excellent business English with good attention to detail.
- Full driving licence.
