SEND Teaching Assistant - BSL Trained

We are working with a highly respected further education college in Cambridge seeking a skilled and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) training to join their inclusive learning support team.

This is a full-time, term-time position upon completion of a probation period working via Time Plan Education (37 hours per week) .

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide specialist communication and learning support to Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, ensuring they can fully access their chosen programmes of study. You will work closely with teaching staff and wider support teams across a range of vocational subject areas.

Key responsibilities include:

Delivering BSL support within classroom and practical learning environments

Supporting learners to build independence, confidence and self-advocacy skills

Assisting students in accessing lesson content and completing coursework

Adapting support approaches to meet individual learning needs

Promoting an inclusive and positive educational experience

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

A minimum of Level 3 BSL qualification (Signature, CACDP, SEG or equivalent)

A recognised CSW qualification (desirable)

GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or equivalent)

Experience supporting Deaf learners and/or students with SEND

A patient, adaptable and proactive approach
