R&D Technician

Temporary initially with a view to go temp to perm after around 3 months

9am - 5pm Monday to Friday
Salary: 15.38 - 20.51 per hour dependent on experience

Polytec are looking for skilled R & D Technicians to join our Cambridge based client. The successful candidates will support laboratory-based research, prototype development and testing activities. This is a hands-on role suited to technicians with strong mechanical and/or electrical skills who enjoy working in a collaborative engineering environment.

Responsibilities

Assembly, setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems and test rigs
Supporting experimental testing including test rig operation and accurately recording data
Maintaining laboratory equipment, tools and consumables
Manual machining of one-off parts
Ensuring health & safety and quality procedures are followed
Working closely with engineers to support ongoing R&D programmes

Requirements

A formal engineering qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
Minimum 3 years' experience in an R & D, engineering or industrial environment
Strong practical skills in mechanical and electrical systems
Experience working with laboratory equipment and experimental setups
Proactive, flexible approach with strong attention to detail
Lab management experience or knowledge of HVAC, hydraulic or industrial control systems would also be an advantage
