Polytec are looking for a Senior NPI Engineer for our client based just north of Cambridge.  This role will involve some travelling both in the UK and overseas. You will need to have a full, clean driving licence and your own transport.  Travel expenses will be paid.  We are seeking a strong background in DFMA, transferring products from development to key production processes such as PCBA and Final Assembly.  

You should also have experience working with contract manufacturers to introduce new products and processes.

Responsibilities:

* Introduction of new product development into the supply chain

* Ensure supply chain and sub-contract manufacturers are prepared to produce in high volume of quality

* Developing and implementing new manufacturing equipment and processes

* Manage prototype builds

* Support root cause analysis of prototype build issues, suggesting / implementing corrective actions

* Creation and/or review of supplier work instructions

Requirements:

* Educated to a higher level in an engineering related subject (significant relevant experience in a similar Engineering role will also be considered)

* NPI / Manufacturing / Production / Process Engineering experience with at least 5 years' electro-mechanical product manufacturing experience

* Significant experience of end to end NPI process, from project concept through to production

* Good understanding of electro-mechanical production processes (SMT and electro-mechanical assembly)

* Data analysis skills for high volume product assembly and test

* Enthusiastic, communicative and inquisitive

* Commercially aware

* Full clean driving licence and own transport

Desirable:

* Six Sigma and SPC

* Experience of working with electronics contract manufacturers

* Knowledge of low-cost manufacturing techniques, injection moulding and aluminium casting processes

* Experience with formal PLM systems (Oracle Agile)
