Your new company
My client is a leading multi‑disciplinary consultancy specialising in environmentally-led planning and design. They operate nationally across both urban and rural contexts, supporting projects in sectors such as residential development, renewable energy, infrastructure, historic estates, and commercial mixed‑use schemes.
They provide an agile, collaborative working environment and offer expertise across planning, architecture, arboriculture, ecology, archaeology and heritage, master planning, landscape architecture, geomatics and urban design. Their teams are currently supporting the delivery of some of the largest solar and battery storage projects in the UK and Europe, alongside a strong pipeline in the residential and infrastructure sectors.
Your new role
You will deliver a wide range of arboricultural consultancy and advisory services, primarily within the renewable energy and residential sectors. Working closely with clients, contractors, statutory bodies and internal teams, you will help manage project budgets, timescales and deliverables.
Key responsibilities include:
Coordinating and undertaking tree surveys and preparing reports and plans in line with BS5837:2012.
Supporting the production of Tree Survey Reports, Arboricultural Impact Assessments and Arboricultural Method Statements.
Providing arboricultural monitoring and supervision during construction works.
Undertaking tree risk assessments and related risk management appraisals.
Identifying and assessing veteran and ancient arboricultural features.
Assisting with quotations for arboricultural services.
Acting as a technical specialist, offering pragmatic, solutions‑focused advice.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing clients.
Contributing to the development of emerging arboricultural specialisms within the organisation.
This role can be based anywhere in the UK, though travel to sites in Southern England is required.
What you'll need to succeed
Essential:
Degree or equivalent qualification in Arboriculture, Forestry or a related environmental discipline.
Proven experience in a similar advisory role with successful project delivery.
Proficiency in BS5837:2012 tree surveying and related software.
Strong report‑writing skills and excellent attention to detail.
Solid knowledge of tree species, morphology, legislation, management and best practice.
Understanding of pests, diseases, control measures and mitigation.
Membership of a relevant professional body (or eligibility to obtain it).
A pragmatic, proportionate approach to technical challenges.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness to travel and work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
Experience producing scaled plans using AutoCAD or QGIS.
Experience undertaking tree risk inspections using frameworks such as QTRA, VALID or THREATS.
Lantra Professional Tree Inspector accreditation.
