Overview

National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Technician to join our structures team in the East region. As a Technician within Operations, you will be supporting in the development of schemes for our Capital Works Programme consisting of road safety, improvement, and asset renewal schemes throughout the region. You will be required to drive as part of your role and need a full driving license to be considered for this position.

This role may also require you to work unsociable hours.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support in the identification and management of asset studies and survey works.
  • Input into the development of early solutions for improvements and/or renewals, including the compiling of relevant documents, evidence and options in line with agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria.
  • Support the development of technical briefs provided to the design and construction contractor for improvement and renewals work.
  • Support the capture and maintenance of structures asset data and condition information in the relevant database.
Qualifications
  • Higher national diploma/certificate or other relevant qualification with relevant experience, or working towards
  • Knowledge of Design Manual for Road & Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highways network
  • Experience in highway construction and delivery methods
  • Experience in Auto CAD/ArcGIS (desirable)
  • Experience working with databases
