Lighting-led electrical design senior to principal level

Lighting design gets treated as an afterthought at most consultancies. Here it is one of the reasons clients come back.

This is an independent, sustainability led MEP and building physics consultancy with several UK offices, owned by the engineers who work there. The Cambridge or Oxford office would be your base, and the electrical work covers everything from concept through to completion, with a genuine specialism in lighting design sitting alongside sustainable building design, building physics and Passivhaus consultancy. Clients come to this practice because of that specialism, not despite it.

The Passivhaus and building physics side of the work also means you are not limited to conventional electrical scope if you want to broaden into wider sustainability consultancy over time.

At Senior to Principal level, you would lead electrical design on projects where lighting, sustainability and building physics are treated as one connected discipline rather than separate boxes to tick, working closely with clients, stakeholders and contractors rather than at arm's length through account managers. Because the firm is owned by the people who work in it, decisions about how projects are run and how the team grows are made by engineers, not by a remote board, and that tends to mean less second guessing of technical calls made on site or in design review.

If working somewhere that treats lighting and sustainability as core skills rather than add ons appeals, this is worth a conversation.
