We require an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer on an Outside IR35 contract basis to deliver mechanical design packages for sub-modules intended for integration onto an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS).

The role focuses on detailed CAD development, assembly management, and vendor liaison for rapid prototyping and low-volume manufacturing.

• Design and develop mechanical sub-modules and packaging for UAS integration.
• Manage CAD structures, complex assemblies, and design references using PTC Creo and Windchill.
• Liaise directly with manufacturing facilities to source rapid-turnaround components, select appropriate materials, and determine production methods.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across electronics, RF, and systems integration.

• Essential:
  • Proven track record in mechanical design engineering within aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronic systems.
  • Expert-level proficiency in PTC Creo.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windchill PDM/PLM.
  • Hands-on experience with the Creo Advanced Assembly Extension (AAX) for top-down design and skeleton models.
• Desirable:
  • Design experience with aerodynamic enclosures, fairings, or pods.
  • Experience designing radomes or RF-transparent structures.
  • Demonstrated background in DFM (Design for Manufacture) for rapid-turnaround parts (CNC machining, additive manufacturing, composites).
