Fixed Term Contract | Onsite with hybrid flexibility (max 40% WFH) About Super‑Sharp Space SystemsSuper‑Sharp is a University of Cambridge spin‑out pioneering compact, unfolding thermal infrared telescopes for Earth observation. Based in Waterbeach, we’re developing space‑deployable telescopes—starting with the Hibiscus prototype launching in 2027—images used in climate, agriculture, security, and more. As a fast‑growing team of 40 people, we’re delivering thermal imaging solutions using a customer‑centric approach to disrupt the Earth Observation industry.
Role OverviewAs our HR Officer, you'll own the end‑to‑end HR lifecycle and ensure that our tight‑knit, mission‑driven team has the administrative, regulatory, and cultural support they need to thrive. This is a 6‑month fixed‑term role with the possibility of expanding to a permanent contract.
Key Responsibilities Employee Relations, Communication & Culture- Address employee concerns, resolve conflicts, and promote a positive workplace culture. This may involve investigating complaints and providing support to employees and management.
- Represent HR at management meetings, updating actions/decisions.
- Input to monthly staff bulletin and All‑Staff meetings; support lunchtime seminars and team‑building events.
- Issue employment contracts, verify right‑to‑work, collect references; handle contract signing and upload to HR toolkit (software platform).
- Coordinate pre‑arrival communications, orientation sessions, day‑one inductions, and ensure staff setup (photo , IT access, merch).
- Update global communications platforms (SharePoint, Teams, email groups, calendars, Whats App) and HR systems; manage emergency contacts.
- Administer exit questionnaires, update records, and securely complete leaver processes.
- Coordinate 3‑ and 6‑month probation reviews; issue confirmation letters and upload signed documents.
- Assist in rolling out the 2026 performance management framework (training for line managers, consultation with external experts).
- Support managers in their efforts to develop employees.
- Maintain data accuracy in HR Toolkit (Staff details, leave, sickness).
- Ensure GDPR compliance in data sharing, and conduct periodic record purges.
- Record health & safety, fire‑safety certifications; coordinate with H&S Lead.
- Prepare and verify monthly payroll data (health, dental, pension, cycle/tech schemes).
- Manage all company benefits programmes and communicate to staff.
- Administer holiday bookings, WFH arrangements (up to 40% post‑3 months; in‑office Mon/Wed) and calendar entries.
- Track sickness absences, collect fit notes for absences >7 days.
- Handle monthly ONS surveys and annual employee surveys.
- 3‑5 years’ generalist HR experience, preferably in engineering, technology, or aerospace environments.
- Strong organisational skills with precision in maintaining HR systems and data.
- Excellent communicator with experience in onboarding, payroll, and benefits administration.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of UK employment law, GDPR, workplace health & safety.
- Comfortable liaising with external providers (payroll, benefits, legal/tribunal support).
- Proactive team‑player who thrives in fast‑moving, mission‑driven settings.
