Systems Engineer, SRE/Site Reliability, Unix/Linux, Cloud Computing: Infrastructure & Operations
We seek an expert Engineer to join our team dedicated to services supporting Engineering Platform Access. The role involves building and maintaining a secure and scalable Linux VDI environment using Rocket Software’s Exceed Turbo
X. This environment allows global engineering teams to optimally access high-performance computing environments crucial for developing next-generation products. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Linux systems administration, Dev Ops, cloud platforms (public and private), networking, system monitoring, and support for operations.
This role will be responsible for developing, deploying, and improving the infrastructure for VDI solution. Focus areas include availability, security, performance, and user experience. You will solve sophisticated infrastructure and application challenges, perform root cause analysis, lead post-incident reviews, automate to reduce operational workload, and continually improve platform dependability through enhanced monitoring, self-service, and engineering methods.
Responsibilities:- Experience supporting Linux VDI or remote visualization platforms such as Open Text/Rocket Exceed TurboX (ETX), Citrix, or similar technologies, with familiarity with ThinX, HDX, PCoIP, or related protocols.
- Experience managing distributed Linux environments across on-premises, HPC, hybrid-cloud, or multi-cloud infrastructure. Semiconductor, EDA, or engineering compute experience is helpful.
- Proficiency in automation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash, Git Lab CI/CD, and REST APIs, including Infrastructure-as-Code, configuration management, and automated deployment practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, or Open Stack, including secrets management, Vault, or serverless automation.
- Familiarity with HPC workload management tools, such as IBM Spectrum LSF or comparable schedulers, and enterprise engineering access platforms.
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions using Dynatrace, Grafana, ELK/Open Search, Splunk, Cloud Watch, or similar tools.
- Understanding of SRE and modern operations practices, including incident resolution, capacity management, AIOps, policy-based automation, self-healing services, and operational toil reduction.
- Contribute to the future evolution of engineering access services through self-service workflows, policy-aware automation, AI-assisted operations, improved observability, secure cloud access patterns, and scalable service operations.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience supporting Linux systems in shared, distributed, production, HPC, engineering, or enterprise environments.
- Experience supporting Linux VDI or remote visualization platforms such as Open Text/Rocket Exceed TurboX (ETX), Citrix, or similar technologies, with familiarity with ThinX, HDX, PCoIP, or related protocols.
- Practical scripting or automation experience using Python, Bash, Ansible, or similar tools.
