We're recruiting for a Maintenance Assistant to support a busy student accommodation site in Central Cambridge. This is a hands-on role where you'll help ensure the building remains safe, well-maintained and welcoming for students and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out general building fabric maintenance tasks.
  • Complete basic painting and decorating to maintain communal areas and accommodation.
  • Repair and replace door locks, handles and other fixtures.
  • Change light bulbs and complete minor electrical replacements (where appropriate).
  • Undertake basic plumbing repairs such as replacing taps and fixing minor leaks.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct routine inspections and report any defects or maintenance issues.
  • Assist with room turnarounds and general upkeep of the accommodation.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety procedures.
  • Support the wider facilities team with general maintenance duties as required.
About You
  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Assistant, Handyman, Fabric Engineer, Caretaker, Multi-Skilled Operative or in a similar maintenance role.
  • Competent carrying out a range of basic building fabric repairs.
  • Good knowledge of painting, carpentry, basic plumbing and general maintenance tasks.
  • Reliable, proactive and able to work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional approach when interacting with residents and colleagues.
  • Available to start immediately.
