About the OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Weld Shop Assistant (WSA) to join our team on Day Shift for an upcoming project at our Cambridge site beginning February 2.
This position will focus on tasks such as insulating, lining, general material handling, housekeeping, and assisting production teams.
The successful candidate will complete a 1-month training period at our Brantford facility (84 Shaver St. Brantford, ON) before transitioning to the Cambridge site (90 Industrial Road. Cambridge, ON).

The role of a Weld Shop Assistant is to assist with the fabrication of our products by performing basic yet important tasks that are essential in keeping production moving in the steel fabrication shop. Duties include operating basic hand tools, insulating and lining for our final finish, and assisting machine operators, fitters/welders, shippers/receivers, etc. Housekeeping and grinding are key components of this physically demanding job.
Hoursof Work
(Monday - Thursday) 6:00am to 4:30pm Total of 40 Hours.
What will you be doing- Use of basic hand tools
- Cut and install insulation and liners.
- Follow directions
- Follow Safe work practices (BBO success)
- Properly fill out timecards when they change job numbers
- Use crane - only simple single hoist lifts when trained.
- Keep up with a fast-paced environment
- Use 10 minutes clean up every day
- Work in compliance with the provision of the Act and the regulations and all applicable legislation
- Operate equipment in a safe and professional manner
- Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn
- Follow all health and safety rules and regulations
- Accountable for the quality and efficiency of work performed
- Lift and carry heavy objects including materials, supplies and equipment
- Clean up debris, materials and equipment around the worksite (ex. Washrooms, office, lunchroom and yard when required including sweeping floors, mopping etc.)
- Remove garbage
- Move material to racks, storage and Stores
- Clean/prep of material (ex. Grinding, Surfox cleaning, caulking and polishing)
- Painting
- Shipping and receiving activities
- Assist others as necessary
- Maintain adequate attendance
