Machine Shop Engineer – Duxford, UK

• Maintain and promote a safe working environment within the various machine shops (M/s).
• Ensure M/s equipment remains serviced, calibrated and fit‑for‑purpose.
• Act as the recognised trainer and key contact for M/s equipment.
• Coordinate the resolution and repair of equipment following breakdowns.
• Arrange the procurement of specialist fixtures, fittings or components for equipment in the M/s.
• Identify and validate new equipment and/or technologies and, when approved, coordinate the preparation of Capex documentation.
• Manage the commissioning of new equipment/plant and drive its implementation.
• Carry out routine and specialist machining of FRP composite materials in compliance with relevant requirements, specifications and standards.
• Provide machining support to other functions as appropriate.
• Assist with ancillary tasks including 5S, LEAN, continuous improvement and other support activities to maintain the day‑to‑day running of the M/s.

• Previous experience machining FRP composite materials is advantageous.
• Ability to use technologies associated with M/s activities and to take a scientific approach / understanding.
• Good technical comprehension to understand written instructions, specifications and the ability to interpret relevant drawings.
• A hands‑on approach to M/s work combined with good attention to detail.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
• Ability to command the personal respect and confidence of colleagues.
• Must be eligible to work in the country where the position is based.
