ELIXIR is seeking a Science Officer or Senior Science Officer to join its Hub in Hinxton, UK. This role focuses on coordinating and supporting Europe-wide life science data initiatives, ensuring that biological data resources are discoverable, accessible, and reusable for research and innovation.

The position involves working at the intersection of science, data infrastructure, and international collaboration, supporting platforms that enable advanced research in bioinformatics, molecular biology, biodiversity, and human health. Senior-level candidates may also lead international projects and mentor colleagues across the network.

• Support planning, coordination, and delivery of ELIXIR Platform activities.
• Coordinate Europe-wide life science data resources and databases.
• Monitor developments in data-centric life science research and infrastructure.
• Prepare reports, publications, and technical documentation.
• Organise international meetings, workshops, and scientific events.
• Collaborate with distributed research teams across Europe.
• Support training and community engagement initiatives.
• Engage with ELIXIR Nodes and stakeholders across multiple countries.
• Lead international projects (Senior Science Officer level).
• Contribute to scientific strategy and adoption of emerging technologies.

• Degree in life sciences, computer science, engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience in bioinformatics, scientific data management, or computational biology.
• Knowledge of databases, data systems, or cloud/HPC environments.
• Experience with scientific software development or workflow tools.
• Understanding of biological data management and FAIR principles.
• Ability to manage multiple complex tasks in a structured environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel across Europe for collaboration and events.

• Postgraduate experience in life science data research.
• Experience with molecular biology, biodiversity, or human health datasets.
• Experience working with distributed international research teams.
• Experience leading scientific or technical projects (Senior level).
• Familiarity with metadata, ontologies, and data interoperability frameworks.
