You will join the Materials and Energy Systems department and be involved in projects spanning a range of fields including soft matter, interfacial science, surfactant systems and polymer materials. The work will primarily be experimental and will involve application of a range of physico-chemical techniques, both standard and developmental, to study detailed behaviour of these substances and formulations under representative conditions of use.

The majority of the work will be lab-based, carrying out experiments as well as performing the analysis and interpretation of the experimental data. The interns will work within a team of scientists as an integrated part of the team working on on-going research projects. Candidates should be detail oriented, enjoy taking on new challenges and have good writing skills.

• Planning and carrying out experimental work,
• Analysing and interpreting experimental datasets
• Participating in regular meetings to discuss project progress
• Presenting to peers
• Writing technical reports
• Ensuring that laboratories activities are kept within Health & Safety standards guidelines

• Studying towards a Bachelors or Masters in Chemistry, Physical chemistry, Physics or a related discipline
• Good communication skills
• Good fundamental laboratory skills
• Basic data analysis
