The modelling team within the Arm Central Engineering Software division enables internal and external customers to build and validate software for Arm IP-based systems for various domains (e.g., IoT, Client, Infrastructure) before silicon is actually available. We are seeking an IP modelling engineer to join our team in building highly efficient C++ software models. These individual software models play a key role in constructing full system models or virtual platform environments that emulates hardware components alongside sophisticated software stacks (e.g., Linux, Android) and enable early software development and testing for internal and external users, faster execution, and many debugging tasks such as inspecting memory bus transactions.
Note that this is a hybrid position, meaning that the candidate must be willing to relocate to Cambridge, UK and be on-site for a certain number of days of the week.
Responsibilities:Members of the modelling team take hardware designs and specifications to build functional representations in software.
- Develop, test, and maintain high-speed models for Arm's System Memory Management Unit [SMMU].
- Own and lead major system-level design features and/or testing of Arm IP in these models.
- Collaborate and influence (across teams) architects, test engineers, and hardware engineers across Arm to understand the IP and model accurately them in C++.
- Contribute to some of the cutting edge designs thru inter-team discussions, presentations, and consuming IP specification documents.
- Give feedback on hardware architectural designs based on experience you’ll develop on the modelling team.
- High proficiency in writing, reviewing, debugging, and testing high quality modern C++ code.
- Strong background in understanding of computer architecture and SoCs.
- Proactivity in effecting change to continuously improving individual and team delivery, growth, and efficiency.
- Experience in leading and driving the direction of work.
- Strong interpersonal skills working with multiple teams across different time zones
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Experience with programmer view modelling or instruction-level simulators (e.g., QEMU, Simics, Gem5, Virtualizer), knowledge of Arm IP, and/or Arm architecture.
- Experience in developing IP/SoC virtual prototypes using C/C++/System
C with an understanding of system-level architecture and concepts (e.g., SMMU, Virtualization, caching). - We value experience working on complex software projects in collaboration with a large multi-site team.
Come be a part of our dynamic team of software engineers developing models at our Arm office in Cambridge, UK! In return at Arm, you will enjoy working in a highly stimulating environment. Our teams work closely together with other software, hardware, test, and system teams across the company. This is an excellent opportunity to learn, grow, and have fun with the support of our talented and expert engineers and gain experience developing, integrating, and testing simulation models!
