Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Civil Engineer to work with the Energy Team on the SSE ASTI Framework
.
- Implement and promote the Better Engineered strategic objective on projects and within the business unit.
- Participate in engineering initiatives within the business unit.
- Act as Engineering Manager on projects, consulting and engaging with Technical Leads and external engineering expertise as required.
- Holistically manage the project design team (in‑house or subcontractors) and their deliverables in line with key milestones.
- Develop effective delivery processes to improve the production of design deliverables to time, cost and quality.
- Produce and manage the RFI schedule and process, liaising directly with the design team.
- Supervise and maintain close liaison on design management and coordination across a portfolio of projects.
- Prepare scope of work for engineering subcontracts.
- Support quality activities: produce design quality plans, provide VDDRs, review ITPs, attend key FATs, and participate in QA audits of designers.
- Provide input to WBS, create pre‑construction programme and interface it with the construction programme (integrating logic, sequencing, successors and predecessors).
- Promote and participate in engineering innovation and BIM solutions for clients.
- Manage and actively pursue performance improvement of the engineering capability and function, assisting in establishing and implementing best‑practice policies and procedures.
- Civil Engineering degree.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards.
- Experience working with National Grid Transmission Networks, SSEN and DNOs is desirable.
- Knowledge of transmission or distribution substations is desirable.
Due to the requirements of the role, in addition to standard identity and right‑to‑work checks, successful candidates will be asked to undertake a basic Disclosure and Barring Service check.
