Part-time (12:00pm – 3:15pm, afternoons only)

A welcoming primary school in Camden, London is seeking a mature and experienced Special Needs Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support for two pupils: one Year 1 child requiring help to complete physiotherapy exercises, and another Reception child with complex behavioural needs.

The Role

In this part-time afternoon role, you will work closely with two children, supporting their individual needs. One child requires assistance with physiotherapy exercises alongside classroom learning, while the other child presents complex behavioural challenges typical of early years SEND support. You will receive training from the school in Number Fluency and Little Wandle phonics

to support their learning effectively.

This position requires patience, resilience, and confidence to work with children who have diverse and complex needs within a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil completing physiotherapy exercises
  • Support a Reception pupil with complex behavioural needs, applying appropriate strategies
  • Participate in training for Number Fluency and Little Wandle programmes
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and SEND leadership to follow individual education plans
  • Maintain clear communication and accurate record-keeping
  • Adapt activities to meet the evolving needs of both pupils during the session
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Experience working with children with physical and behavioural SEND needs
  • Patience and ability to manage complex behaviour with clear boundaries
  • Willingness to undertake training in Number Fluency and Little Wandle
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Understanding of SEND strategies and individualised support
