About Your Role:
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Post-16 SEN Tutors/Mentors to support young people aged 16–19 (and up to 25 where appropriate) through personalised, one-to-one or small-group learning programmes.
You will deliver tailored education packages designed to re-engage learners, support academic progress, and prepare them for adulthood, further education, employment, or training.
Key Responsibilities:
Support learners working towards post-16 qualifications including GCSE resits, Functional Skills, BTEC, or vocational pathways
Create engaging, learner-centred sessions using a range of strategies and activities linked to students’ interests and future goals
Act as a positive mentor to develop confidence, resilience, independence, and employability skills
Support preparation for adulthood, including further education applications, CV writing, interview skills, and independent living skills
Confidently support learners with a range of SEND, including ASD/ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and complex needs
Follow agreed timetables and lesson schedules to provide structure, consistency, and routine
What You Bring/Essential:
A strong commitment to helping post-16 learners re-engage with education and achieve meaningful outcomes
Reliability and professionalism in delivering sessions consistently within fixed-term packages
A patient, empathetic approach, recognising the complex journeys many learners have experienced
At least two years’ experience teaching or mentoring young people with SEND in schools, alternative provision, FE settings, youth work, or private tuition
Experience delivering GCSE or Functional Skills Maths and/or English (or relevant subject specialism at post-16 level)
A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
A sound understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and commitment to maintaining statutory training
Flexibility to travel to assigned locations as required
