Position: Reception Year Teaching Assistant
Location: Camden Town

Reception Year Teaching Assistant – Full-time, long‑term temporary and ongoing role starting as soon as possible

This school provides a warm, nurturing, and well‑structured learning environment where pupils benefit from supportive adults, clear routines, and purposeful early years teaching. Staff work collaboratively to uphold high expectations, helping children feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn. Pupils respond well to calm, consistent approaches that support communication, independence, and steady developmental progress.

Duties as Reception Year Teaching Assistant:
  • Work as one of two adults supporting a non‑verbal child with ASD on a part‑time timetable
  • Support the child’s communication, emotional regulation, and engagement for 90 minutes per day
  • Deliver EYFS and Year 1 interventions for the remainder of the school day
  • Assist with early literacy, numeracy, phonics, play‑based and structured learning
  • Use personalised approaches, visual supports, and sensory strategies
  • Collaborate with class teachers, SEND staff, and wider support teams
  • Help prepare resources, manage transitions, and maintain consistent routines
  • Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil well‑being
Ideal Reception Year Teaching Assistant:
  • Strong SEND experience, especially supporting non‑verbal children
  • Confident working with ASD and early developmental approaches
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing, with the ability to build secure relationships
  • Skilled at using communication aids, routines, and structured strategies
  • Effective communicator with strong teamwork abilities
  • Adaptable, proactive, and committed to supporting early learning
  • Reliable and consistent in approach to behaviour and learning needs
