About the role

As an Adult Health & Social Care Tutor, you will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons to adult learners studying a range of Health & Social Care qualifications, helping them develop the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence needed to progress into employment or further study.

You will plan and deliver high-quality teaching, assess learner progress, provide constructive feedback, and support students in achieving their individual learning goals.

Your Role as an Adult Health & Social Care Tutor

As an Adult Health & Social Care Tutor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons across Health & Social Care programmes.
  • Teaching adult learners at a variety of levels, including Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications.
  • Preparing schemes of work, lesson plans and learning resources.
  • Assessing learner progress through assignments, coursework and practical observations.
  • Providing timely, constructive feedback to help learners achieve their potential.
  • Monitoring attendance, progress and learner engagement.
  • Supporting learners with employability skills and progression into further study or employment.
  • Maintaining accurate learner records and completing all required administrative tasks.
  • Following the college’s safeguarding, equality, diversity and health & safety policies.
  • Working collaboratively with curriculum teams and support staff to ensure excellent learner outcomes.
What Makes a Great Adult Health & Social Care Tutor?

Successful Adult Health & Social Care Tutors combine industry expertise with a passion for developing others. Key attributes include:

  • Excellent knowledge of the Health & Social Care sector and current industry practices.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training, or willingness to work towards one).
  • Relevant Health & Social Care qualifications (typically Level 3 or above).
  • Experience teaching, training or mentoring adults or young people is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to motivate and inspire learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organisation, planning and time management skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusive learning.
  • A positive, flexible and learner-centred approach to teaching.
